Glitter, Glitter, Everywhere!

Truly there was a LOT of glitter all over my work area when I completed this card!  Here's my take on Tresa's Glitter 'n Tape Technique....

I used her technique for the red glitter border as well as for the circle focal point.  And if that wasn't enough glitter, I decided to do Liquid Glass and Prisma Glitter around the outer border and the centers of the snowflakes on the Juniper B&T.  As usual, this picture really doesn't capture the beautiful shimmer this card has!  I also love that our B&T Papers are two-sided.  You'll notice I was able to use the colorful side of the circle snowflakes in the center of the cut-out circle to compliment the monochromatic Juniper side I used on the right-hand side of the card front.  Love it!

Gobble, Gobble Time!

Looking for an irresistibly cute concoction for your Thanksgiving Day Celebration??  This may be just what you're looking for!  I've been making these for years now...completely thought I saw this idea at one of my husband's HUGE family Thanksgiving dinners but he assures me that that is not the case.  So apparently this is an original creative discovery by me!  Who knew?!?

Let's meet the Cast of Characters:

  • Chocolate Covered Cherries
  • Fudge Striped Cookies
  • Candy Corn
  • Chocolate Frosting
  • Chocolate Star Candies
STEP 1: Connect one (1) Chocolate Covered Cherry to two (2) Chocolate Star Candies with some Chocolate Frosting (this is your "glue" if you will).  Say hello to your body and feet!

[Side Note: In the past, I've always been able to purchase Chocolate Star Candies by Brachs, but this year after going to 3 different Grocery Chains and then 3 Drug Store Chains with no luck (boooooooo!) I decided to make them myself.  Simply melt some chocolate and then add to an icing bag with a star decorator tip and squeeze out adorable handmade stars onto wax paper.]

STEP 2:  Again using some Chocolate Frosting, attach a Chocolate Striped Cookie to the backside of the Chocolate Covered Cherry.  And don't be afraid to use a lot of frosting...these bad boys need it!!  Hello feathers.

STEP 3: Use Chocolate Frosting to attach one (1) Candy Corn to the front of the Chocolate Covered Cherry.  Hello Turkey head.

Repeat until you have a whole army of turkeys! :)

These were a huge hit at Preschool today.  Perfect finale to the Thanksgiving Feast.  Gobble, gobble and they were gone!

Dreams Can Come True

A quick project (altered composition notebook) I made up this weekend for a friend.  She's been thinking a lot about changing her career path.  I told her she needs to start keeping her thoughts, ideas and any pertinent info in a notebook to help her dream become a reality.  There's something about writing things down that just helps solidify it.  And quite honestly, her potential new path is SO her! Good luck Kjirsten!

I absolutely love the quote in this Aspiration Stamp Set.  "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanor Roosevelt

Shhhh...A Sneak Peek!

Wanna see a cool new CTMH product coming out in our Spring 2010 Idea Book??!?!  Well, of course you do!  So here it is....drumroll please:

It's a snazzy journal that has a clear pocket in the front so that you can decorate and re-decorate the journal's cover to your heart's content!  Clever, right?!

Simply decorate a gorgeous cover to your liking as show here; then slide in your decorated cover.  So totally easy.

And voila...a beautiful journal to tote around with you!  Be prepared for oooohhhhs and aaahhhhs ;)

Lollipop, Lollipop...

Here's a fun project that has TONS of potential.  I was originally inspired by Jeanette's post about these Lollipop Covers several months ago.  We made these last week with my Stamp Club.  Several asked for the dimensions so here's a simple How-To Tutorial for y'all! :)

Let's meet the Cast of Characters:

STEP 1: Cut your materials.  Cut your Cocoa Textured CS to 2-1/2" x 5-1/4" (score at 2-1/2" from each end as pictured below).  Cut two (2) 2" squares of the Distressed Cranberry B&T Paper from the Everlasting Collection.  Cut one (1) 1-3/4" square of the Cranberry Floral B&T Paper from same Collection.  Cut an 8" piece of Satin Trimmed Colonial White Organdy Ribbon.

STEP 2: Prepare your materials.  Using Sanding Block, sand Cocoa Textured CS to expose the white core and better enhance the texture to the CS.  Then apply Cocoa ink to all three (3) B&T Papers with Foam Texture Tool.

STEP 3: Putting it together.  Using Cocoa ink and "with Gratitude" sentiment, stamp image on upper portion of Cranberry Floral B&T Paper.  Then adhere to the center of one of the Distressed Cranberry B&T.  Adhere this combo to the center of the front panel of your Cocoa Textured CS and then the other Distressed Cranberry B&T centered to the back panel.

STEP 4: Final preparations.  Holding the Lollipop Cover so that the two ends are flush, punch two (2) holes along the base of the Cranberry Floral B&T. (This will create 4 holes--two in the front and two in the back.)

Thread ribbon through 3 of the 4 holes (leaving one of the front holes open).

Slide Lollipop into Cover.  Then string ribbon through final hole and tie in a knot.  Trim ribbon as desired.

On the back of the Lollipop you could write "to & from" or if you wished to use it for Thanksgiving, you could use that for the person's name and use it as a place setting.

Think Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween...and on and on.  Enjoy!

Delightful Things

As promised, I have some wonderful (and inspiring) ideas from attending CTMH's Regional Celebration in Portland last weekend.  Here is a fun, festive holiday card which uses our awesome Twinkle Brads.  Love 'em!!

A couple of cool things going on in this card...first check out my tree trunk.  It's cut from our small paper packet label found inside each of our paper packets.  How clever is that!?!?  A darling pattern and something you'd most likely just toss anyway.

Now, here's the biggie.  The tree is made from our Delightful Things stamp set.  I can honestly say, I would never have thought to do this, but I truly LOVE it!  At first glance, this set looks beautiful for doing corners and little details.  But, take a look at that sketchy corner image in the lower left hand corner.  I simply stamped that image 3 times, each time slightly overlapping the previous one.  Then when I cut it out, I just trimmed the edges to be more proportional to a tree.  Neat, huh?!

Feeling inspired?  I hope so!
